CB Radio Install

My Southwind didn’t have a CB radio in it when I bought it, but at some point in the past it did,  as there was an antenna mounted on the passenger side.near the roof.

I like having the CB.  When we travel,  its an excellent source of road information, especially if something is wrong,  i.e. accident,  road closed, ice, snow, etc. I bought a inexpensive Cobra CB from Amazon. com

I installed the CB in the where the old Panasonic rear view camera monitor used to be.

I also wired the CB `12 volt power into the old monitor circuit.  This gets power when the engine ignition is ON or in ACC position.

  1. I was referred to your site and wanted to congratulate you on your website. Lots of great DIY info for the Fleetwood family. I wanted to install a cb but have questions about how useful it will be. How much traffic is on the frequencies today? What kind of range do you get? Basically, is it worth the effort?
I am going to be doing a paint job on my 1997 32’ Storm this summer so I will send you some pictures. It’s not going to be fancy like your paint job but since I am not going to be trying to reinvent the look of the coach, so it should be an easier job. I am going to be making some minor adjustments to the old scheme and may test some roll and tip techniques on the bus.
    Thanks
    Bruce
