F53 – Ford V10 Oil Change, Grease Job, and Fumoto Valve

Changing oil on the V10 is pretty much the same as any gas engine.  One item that makes this job easier and less messy is to replace the drain plug with a Fumoto valve.

Now I stick my drain pan on top of the front axle,  open the valve,  and come back in 20-30 minutes,  close the valve, remove the pan,  and we’re ready to start putting in fresh oil.

The Fumoto can be purchased on line for about $25.  I got mine from Amazon.

The grease job is also straight forward.  There are 9 points on the front end that need grease.  Note that #9 on the steering box is usually overlooked as its difficult to see.

On my 99 Southwind,  I also have a grease fitting on each of the four u-joints.
