Slide out control switch

The original slide switch was a momentary key switch. This was inconvenient and just one more key that I didn’t need.

I replaced the key switch with a standard DPDT Momentary slide-out switch.  These can be gotten from Camping world, or any other electronic supply place.  NOTE:  a SPDT switch would work, but the DPDT switch was the only one in stock that would fit.

I removed the old switch, cutting the wires off of it.  I then crimped on spade lug connectors on the wires so they could get pushed onto the new switch.

I had to make the switch panel hole larger to accommodate the new switch.  Install the switch in the new hole,  connect the wires,  do a quick test,  then install the panel back in the cabinet.

  1. Great writeup! In the process of doing this mod as well. Curious why use a DPDT switch instead of a SPDT? When wiring mine was confused as the DPDT wiring diagram shows 4 wires to connect to 6 terminals, while the slide switch only has 3 wires.

  2. A SPDT momentary will work. I suspect the only reason why I used a DPDT is because thats the only one they had in stock.
