F53 – Clean MAF Sensor

We just bought the Southwind so I’m in the process of bringing the F53 chassis up to date on all the maintenance.

Most people forget about the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor).  This is a critical part as it measures the mount of air coming into the engine, then adds the correct amount of fuel to get the best fuel burn.

Cleaning the MAF sensor and replacing the air filter.  Loosen the clamp and rubber elbow from the top of the air filter chamber. Open the clamp that holds the top and bottom together.

The MAF sensor is tricky to get to, its located in the top half of the air cleaner housing.  The inner piece can be popped out and the MAF sensor unplugged..

Use a MAF sensor cleaner spray and clean the sensor where indicated.  DO NOT TOUCH or rub the sensor element. Spraying it with the cleaner will do a good job. touching the sensor can destroy it..

Put a new filter in when re-assembling.

Now is a good time to do the water ingestion modification if you haven’t done t.  This prevents water from getting sucked up into the intake and plugging the air filter. CLICK HERE
